Now available: new book captures 10 years of smart microgrid research

book coverAvailable now from CRC Press, “Smart Microgrids: Lessons from Campus Microgrid Design and Implementation” provides a system-level approach to the design of smart Microgrids, covering the entire design process—from roadmap to realization.  Edited by NSMG-Net Scientific Director Hassan Farhangi, the book details lessons learned and pitfalls to avoid in Microgrid technology, and brings an interdisciplinary approach to design and problem solving for smart microgrids.

Final AGM Wrap Up a Success

A sincere thank you to the many researchers, graduate students and stakeholders who attended the final NSMG-Net AGM in Markham on October 5.  A special thanks to our keynote speakers (Dr. Chris Marnay and Edward Arlitt) and panel members (Richard Wunderlich, Eric Deschenes, Jean Lessard and Lisa Dignard), who shared valuable insights and contributed to an informative discussion on the future of microgrid research in Canada.

CEA Launches Special Events Series, Virtual Open House for National Electricity Month 2015

Posted on

For the third year running, the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) has designated June as National Electricity Month in Canada. Accordingly, CEA, in partnership with its corporate utility members, will kick-off the month on June 1 with facility tours, activities, speeches, and special events across the country.

In addition, a new suite of interactive electricity literacy tools are now available on www.powerforthefuture.ca, including a virtual open house that will offer Canadians the opportunity to tour various facilities and projects and learn more about what goes on behind the scenes to bring power to their homes and businesses.

National Electricity Month invites Canadians to learn more about the value that electricity brings to their everyday lives.  By allowing consumers to see how the system works first-hand, CEA hopes to foster a national conversation about the choices that need to be made today if Canada is to maintain a reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity grid in the years to come.
