Alberta Power and Energy Innovation Forum

On November 8, 2012, members from NSMG-Net’s Project 1.3 (Disturbance Detection, Diagnosis and Protection) attended the 5th annual Power and Energy Innovation Forum organized by the Alberta Power Industry Consortium (APIC) in Edmonton, AB. Around 150 people participated in the forum, both from the Alberta power industry and from the University of Alberta. The theme of this year’s Forum was Innovations and Challenges in Power System Asset Management. APIC consists of six Alberta power companies and the University of Alberta.

At the forum, members of NSMG-Net had the opportunity to become familiar with the issues faced by industry in power system asset management, exchanging their knowledge and ideas with researchers from Alberta power companies. In addition, during the poster session, the members presented three posters to introduce the NSMG-Net and its activities to Alberta power companies as well as professors and researchers in University of Alberta. The responses received from industry have been very helpful for the NSMG-Net student researchers.
